Health Update

In September of 2011, I was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in my left thigh. Few months after my cancer diagnosis, I started this blog to update my family and friends about my journey’s detour. Because I’m not a natural blogger the updates happen sporadically - my last post was a year and a half ago. J

After long months since the last update, I’m writing again to share challenging news. Routine image tests have revealed metastatic disease in the liver and the lungs. I remain asymptomatic and feel healthy. I’ve begun treatment and am confident that God who knows our circumstances and sees everything is close to me, once again.

This new detour is significantly more challenging than any of the previous ones, including my amputation. However, I remain “grounded and steadfast in faith not moving away from the hope of the gospel.” Col. 1:23

I kindly solicit your prayers for encouragement and strength to face the uncertainties of the days ahead; prayers for wisdom and discernment to make important decisions in the next few weeks and months; and above all, prayers for healing, for only God can bring complete restoration.

There are thousands of God’s children taking detours, every day, all over the world. Some are battling cancer in different stages, others are fighting mental illness and depression, while others experiencing fear and rejection, and the list goes on and on.

If you’re reading this post and you can relate, I want to encourage you with the words of the prophet Jahaziel to king Jehoshaphat when he faced one of the most difficult moments of his life:

“Do not be afraid or discouraged… for the battle is not yours but God’s.” 2 Chron. 20:15

That’s right, this battle isn’t mine but the Lord’s… may His will be done in my life.
